Restore parking.
Protect access.
Build better sidewalks.
Restore parking.
Plan the whole street.
We are neighbours on NE 95th Street in Seattle. New no-parking signs have removed parking people relied on between 23rd and 25th Ave NE. Future sidewalk work could affect more parking farther east.
We want the lost parking restored, further parking loss avoided, and a connected sidewalk plan that works for the people who walk here and the people who live here.
Extend the south-side sidewalk.
There is already sidewalk in front of 2327 NE 95th Street and farther west. Our preferred approach is to extend and improve that south-side route while preserving parking on the north side.
SDOT has raised concerns about retaining walls, available space and cost. We are asking for a measured comparison of the options, including a safe, accessible route through 25th Ave NE and farther east.
Parking is also access.
For neighbours with limited driveway space, renters, older residents and families with small children, this is more than a longer walk to the car.
Residents describe steep driveways that become difficult to use in snow and ice, and narrow walking routes from the suggested alternative parking. Those everyday needs belong in the safety and accessibility review too.
What we are asking the city to do
Restore parking and address the immediate impact. Review the restrictions and provide a written response to residents’ request for an enforcement pause while options are considered.
Show a connected plan. Compare the south-side option, accessible crossings, future parking impacts, costs and a realistic construction schedule.
Include neighbours before decisions are made. Give affected households clear notice, a chance to comment and a named contact for follow-up.
Make your
voice heard.
Better sidewalks and practical access should be part of the same plan.
Contact the city
Email Councilmember Maritza Rivera and SDOT. Tell them how these changes affect you. Ask for parking to be restored, a review of the south-side sidewalk option, and a connected plan before more parking is removed.
Use your own words and ask for a written response.
